The Reading Fightin Phils defeated the Bowie Baysox 2-1 on Saturday night after falling behind in the top of the 1st inning 1-0. Brock Stassi hit his fourth home run and Cameron Perkins added a RBI single to provide the runs for Reading. Severino Gonzalez (4-3) earned his fourth win of the season by going six innings and allowed just one run off three hits and one walk.
Reading fell behind early as Limerick native Christian Walker hit a RBI double off Severino Gonzalez in the top of the first inning to score Niuman Romero and give Bowie a 1-0 lead. Brock Stassi quickly tied it up in the bottom of the first inning at 1-1 off Baysox starter Anthony Vasquez as he hit his fourth home run of the season. Cameron Perkins gave the Figthin Phils a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning as he hit a RBI single to score Albert Cartwright.
Tyler Knigge threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief and Nefi Ogando retired the final five batters of the game to earn his third save. The Reading Fightin Phils are now 20-18 on the season.
