Becahi and Pen Argyl advance, Northampton falls

The Becahi and Pen Argyl softball teams both won on Monday to move into the state quarterfinal round of the state tournament. Northampton lost in the opening round to North Penn.

Becahi fell behind Donegal early in the game but after tying the game at 2 scored the final three runs in a 5-2 win.  That puts the Golden Hawks in the quarterfinal round and they'll find out on Tuesday who they'll play.

Pen Argyl routed Christopher Dock, winning 9-0.  For the Green Knights that means a quarterfinal showdown with Brandywine Heights.

The Northampton girls couldn't score against Jackie Billotti and North Penn, losing 1-0 on an unearned run scored by North Penn late in the game.  The loss ends the K-Kids' outstanding season.
