Brandywine wins first ever state championship

The Brandywine Heights softball team won its first state championship in school history on Friday.

The Bullets beat Riverside 1-0 in the PIAA AA state title game in State College.

The game marked Brandywine's fifth appearance in the state championship game in the last nine years.  The previous four times, they had settled for silver.

Megan Olsen threw a complete game shutout for Brandywine.  She allowed just four hits, walked one, and struck out four.

The Bullets' only run came on an RBI single by Jess Musser which scored Amanda Hess in the fourth inning.

Brandywine finishes its season at 27-2.
