Brandywine wins in 10 innings, reaches state title game

The Brandywine softball team earned a wild, 5-4 win over Holy Redeemer in 10 innings Tuesday night in the PIAA 2A state semifinal round at Allentown's Patriots Park.

The win earns the Bullets a date with Riverside on Friday at 10am in State College in the PIAA 2A State Championship game.

Brandywine took a one-run lead in the top of the 7th and 8th innings, only to see Holy Redeemer tie it both times to extend the game.

But in the 10th, the Bullets took the lead again, then turned their third double play of the game to end it.

This is the fifth time in the last nine years that Brandywine has reached the state title game.

In each of their last four appearances, they settled for silver.  The Bullets have never won a state championship.
