Emmaus settles for silver in PIAA state final

The Emmaus field hockey team's bid for an 11th state championship fell just short on Saturday.

The Green Hornets suffered a 2-1 loss to Lower Dauphin in the PIAA 3A state final at the Zephyr Sports Complex at Whitehall High School.

The Green Hornets fell behind 2-0 in the first half.

Krissy Mikelson scored Emmaus' lone goal with just :25 left in the game.

Lower Dauphin also eliminated Emmaus last year, winning in double-overtime in the state semifinal round.

The Neshaminy girls soccer team capped off an undefeated season with a PIAA 3A state championship on Saturday.

The Redskins beat fellow District One foe Spring-Ford 2-1 in overtime.

The Marian Catholic girls volleyball team also won state gold.

Marian beat Cochranton 3-0 to claim the PIAA A state championship.
