Freedom among home winners in playoff opener

The opening round of the District 11 baseball tournament went to the home teams on Monday. Freedom, Stroudsburg, and Northwestern won on their home fields to advance.

Freedom moved on with a win over Easton, scoring the first 8 runs of the game then holding on for an 8-3 victory.  The Patriots will now face Parkland in the quarterfinal round.

Stroudsburg ousted Northampton in round one, shutting out the K-Kids 2-0.  That means the Northampton season comes to an end and Stroudsburg will face East Stroudsburg South.

Northwestern survived round one with a 7th inning rally to beat Wilson 6-5.  That win moves the Tigers into the District 11 quarterfinals on Wednesday.
