HS GIRLS RUNDOWN: Becahi, Fleetwood advance in state playoffs

HS GIRLS RUNDOWN: Becahi, Fleetwood girls move on

The Bethlehem Catholic and Fleetwood girls both won their PIAA 3A state playoff openers on Saturday, while Central Catholic and Berks Catholic both fell short.

The Becahi girls got 20 points from Kalista Walters and 19 from Maggie Melhem to breeze by Bonner-Prendergast 62-40 at Freedom High School.

The Fleetwood girls - making their first state playoff appearance since 1979 - knocked off Radnor 39-32 in their state playoff opener.

The Central Catholic girls couldn't hold a late lead and lost a heartbreaking 29-27 decision to Abington Heights. 

Berks Catholic fell to Philadelphia powerhouse Archbishop Wood 69-43, closing out their season at 19-8.

The Marian Catholic girls cruised past Northeast Bradford 47-23 in round one of the PIAA A state playoffs.
