IronPigs edge Rochester in series opener

The IronPigs beat Rochester 3-2 Saturday night in their series opener at Coca-Cola Park.

A Red Wings throwing error allowed Jermaine Mitchell to score in the eighth inning, giving the IronPigs the lead for good.

Cesar Hernandez and Michael Martinez drove in the first two runs for the 'Pigs.

Raul Valdes, just optioned to the 'Pigs from the Phillies on Friday, started on the mound and threw four shutout innings.

Zack Miner (2-3, 5.87) picked up the win for the 'Pigs.

The win was the second in a row for the IronPigs, who improve to 18-24 on the season.

The 'Pigs will resume their series with Rochester on Sunday at 1:35pm at Coca-Cola Park.
