Phillies catcher Erik Kratz will have left knee surgery on Wednesday to repair a medial meniscus tear.

A timetable for Kratz's return won't be known until after the surgery.

The Phillies placed Kratz on the 15-day disabled list after he hurt the knee late in Saturday night's game against the Brewers.

Steven Lerud was called up from the IronPigs to replace Kratz on the Phillies roster.

The injury means the Phillies top two catchers - Kratz and Carlos Ruiz - are now both on the disabled list.

Lerud joins Humberto Quintero as two IronPigs catchers now wearing Phillies uniforms.
