Philadelphia, PA -

Lehigh had run into some bad luck the past two weeks, falling to Monmouth in the season opener, and then to nationally ranked Villanova last Saturday.  Saturday night the Mountain Hawks hoped having those two games under their belt would be an advantage as they took on Penn at Franklin Field in their season opener

The first half was a high-energy affair on both sides, as the Penn and Lehigh offenses combined for 593 yards and neither team punted in the opening 30 minutes.

The Mountain Hawks would put up 548 yards of total offense in this one.  Nick Shafnisky would throw for 317 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for three more scores.  Troy Pelletier caught ten passes for 123 yards and a touchdown.

Lehigh beats Penn for their first win of the season, 49-28.  They'll try to get to the five hundred mark Saturday when they host Princeton, who outlasted Lafayette, 35-31.
