Fightin Phils blow late lead again

The Fightin Phils blew late lead for the second straight night in a 5-3 loss in Akron on Saturday.

Leading 3-2, the Fightins gave up three runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to provide the winning margin.

It marked the second straight night that Reading surrendered three 8th inning runs to lose in Akron.

Kyle Simon (1-6, 5.44) suffered the loss and blown save for the Fightin Phils.

Jim Murphy hit his 20th home run for Reading while Kelly Dugan added his 7th homer.

Zach Collier went 3-for-4 in the game.

The Fightins (52-72) will look to avoid the series sweep in Akron on Sunday at 2:05pm.
