Fightin Phils get swept in New Hampshire

New Hampshire Fisher Cats starting pitcher and Albright College graduate Casey Lawrence earned his second win of the season as he pitched 6 2/3 innings to lead the Fisher Cats to a 4-2 win Sunday. The Fightin Phils matched New Hampshire with seven hits but only managed two runs while leaving six players on base.

Cameron Perkins put the Fightin Phils on the board first as he hit a two-out RBI single off Fisher Cats starter Casey Lawrence to take a 1-0 lead. The Fisher Cats came right back in the bottom of the third inning off Perci Garner as they scored three runs to take a 3-1 lead.

Logan Moore played his first game as a Fightin Phil and provided plenty of offense as he hit a RBI double off Lawrence to score Aaron Altherr in the top of the fifth inning to bring the Fightin Phils within one run, 3-2. New Hampshire scored their fourth and final run off Fightin Phils reliever Hector Neris as Kevin Nolan hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 4-2 lead.

Scott Gracey closed out the game in the top of the ninth inning as he recorded the final two outs. The Fightin Phils are now 11-9 on the season and will begin a four-game series in Portland beginning on Monday night. First pitch is at 6:00 pm. LHP Jesse Biddle will be on the mound for the Fightin Phils.
