Portland no-hits Fightin Phils in rain-shortened opener

Fightin Phils get no-hit in rain-shortened opener

The Portland Sea Dogs spoiled the Reading Fightin Phils season opener Thursday night at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Sea Dogs no-hit the Fightins 5-0 in a game that was called due to rain after the sixth inning.

Portland's Henry Owens struck out nine over six no-hit innings before rains forced the game to end early.

Jesse Biddle, the Phillies top pitching prospect, gave up a home run to the first batter of the game.

Biddle allowed four earned runs on nine hits in just 3 1/3 innings.
