Frandsen opts for free agency; Galvis getting better

Frandsen elects free agency; Galvis on the way back

One of the more popular IronPigs will not be back this season.

Infielder Kevin Frandsen, who spent parts of the last few years with the 'Pigs, elected to forego his $900K salary and become a free agent on Tuesday.

Frandsen had been designated for assignment by the Phillies on Sunday, and was expected to accept an assignment with the IronPigs.

Utility infielder Freddy Galvis, who was hospitalized with MRSA last week, returned to the Phillies clubhouse on Tuesday.

Galvis told reporters he could return to playing games in the next two to three weeks.

The Phillies also released infielder Ronny Cedeno on Tuesday.

In other news, Rangers ace Yu Darvish was scratched from his Opening Day start on Tuesday, which would have come against the Phillies.
