Reports: Phillies to sign Cuban pitcher Gonzalez

According to online reports, the Phillies have signed a Cuban pitcher to a major deal.

The Phils have reportedly agreed to terms with right-hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez on a 6-year, $48M contract with a vesting option for a seventh year.

Multiple teams were reportedly bidding for Gonzalez's services.

Gonzalez is 26, throws four pitches with a fastball that sits in the mid-90's, and is said to be Major League ready.

The signing is by far the largest contract the Phillies have ever given out to an international player.
