New York Mets beat Colorado Rockies, embark on 11-game trip out west
The New York Mets beat the Colorado Rockies 2-1 Thursday.
Dillon Gee followed Matt Harvey's first career shutout with an impressive outing of his own, helping the Mets send the Rockies home after matching the worst road trip in team history.
Gee scattered eight hits without yielding a walk in 7 2-3 innings to win for the first time since July 14.
The Mets now hit the road for an 11-day trip out west. They'll begin a 3-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at 9:40 p.m. ET Friday. They'll then visit the Dodgers for three games and the Padres for four games before closing out the trip in Minnesota for a makeup match with the Twins on Aug. 19.
