Vancouver Canucks winger David Booth was placed on waivers and the team expects to officially complete a $3 million buyout of his 2014-15 contract.

Booth, 30, was owed $4.75 million for next season, and the Canucks are obligated to pay two-thirds of that total.

Booth was washed out along with a major overhaul in Vancouver, where fired general general Mike Gillis, fired coach John Tortorella and traded goaltender Roberto Luongo will all remain on the books despite not being with the team.

Booth was acquired from Florida in 2011 but arrived with a history of concussions and suffered knee and ankle injuries -- and never returned to his 30-goal past.

--- Goaltender Alex Stalock and right wing Mike Brown signed two-year contract to remain with the San Jose Sharks.

Stalock, 26, will earn $1.5 million in 2014-15 and $1.7 million in 2015-16. The deal keeps him from reaching free agency as scheduled next month.

Brown can earn $1.15 million in 2014-15 and $1.25 million in 2015-16.
