Northampton boys make history, NDGP advances; Holy War rematch set for district final

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. - The Northampton boy's basketball program has had to wait for 45 years. After Wednesday's result, the wait is over.

The (3) K-Kids turned back (7) Emmaus, 58-54, in a District 11-6A semifinal at Allen, advancing to their first district final since 1973.

Aiden Ellwood poured in a game-high 24 points to pace the K-Kids, including a couple of key buckets late to seal it.

Northampton will play top-seed East Stroudsburg South in Saturday's championship at 7:30 at Freedom.

In the early game at Allen, (2) Notre Dame prevailed over (3) Catasauqua in a 3A semifinal, 65-44.

Chris Omick had 16 points to lead the way for the Crusaders in the victory. Notre Dame will clash with (1) Valley Forge Military Academy in Saturday's final at 8:00 at Council Rock South.

At Whitehall, it's another chapter of the Holy War girl's series this season.

(1) Becahi pulled away from (5) Blue Mountain, 49-27, in a 4A semi.

Hope Brown poured in a game-high 23 points to lead the way for the defending tournament champs.

Also at Whitehall, (3) ACCHS got by (7) Tamaqua, 44-42.

Emily Vaughan's 3-pointer with a minute and a half left proved to be the difference for the Vikettes, who get another shot at their rival Saturday at 1:30 at Freedom.
