At Happy Valley, Penn State remembered the 50th anniversary of former coach Joe Paterno's first game as head coach prior to their contest against Temple Saturday afternoon. The Owls beat the Lions 27-10 last year at the Linc.
This one would be a nailbiter, but the Lions would exact revenge.
Whitehall grad, Saquon Barkley, who sat out a large portion of the first half with an injury, would score from 55 yards out in the 4th, giving the Lions a ten point lead. Temple kicked a field goal, but Penn State holds on, 34-27, to improve to 2-1 on the season.
The Lions open up Big Ten play next weekend at Michigan, while Temple hosts the Charlotte 49ers for homecoming next Saturday.
