CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Philadelphia Phillies made two notable roster moves on Sunday as the close of Spring Training draws near.
The team designated catcher Cameron Rupp for assignment. The move likely spells the end for Rupp in the Phillies organization, but if he clears waivers he can potentially be assigned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Also, the team signed infielder Scott Kingery to a long-term contract that, with options, can keep him in the organization through 2026. The utility man has enjoyed a very successful Spring Training and will be on the big league Opening Day roster.
