Tyson Gillies' disappointing tenure with the Phillies came to an end on Sunday.

The Phillies released the 25-year-old outfielder after nearly five underachieving years in the Phillies system.

Gillies came to the Phillies from Seattle in 2009 in the ill-fated Cliff Lee trade.

He was thought to be the team's center-fielder of the future, but injuries, off-the-field issues, and subpar production stalled his career.

Gillies played for the IronPigs and Reading Phillies during his time in the Phillies organization.
