The Philadelphia Phillies officially announced the signing of pitcher Jake Arrieta on Monday afternoon. The deal was reported as early as Sunday afternoon. The contract is reportedly for three years and worth $75 million.
The starter quickly rose to the top of the majors as one of the best pitchers during his last four seasons with the Chicago Cubs.
Arrieta won the 2015 NL Cy Young Award and was a member of the Cubs' 2016 World Series Championship team.
The Phillies will officially introduce him at a press conference at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning in Clearwater, Florida.
To make room for the right hander on the 40-man roster, the club designated Tommy Joseph for assignment.
