Phillies select OF Adam Haseley with 8th overall pick in MLB Draft

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Philadelphia Phillies used the 8th overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft to selected outfielder Adam Haseley out of the University of Virginia.

The 21-year-old hit .390 with 14 home runs and 56 RBIs during his junior season with the Cavaliers. He led the ACC in batting average and on-base percentage.

The Phillies took high school bats in their last two drafts, making Haseley their first college bat since 2000 (Chase Utley).

With their second pick on Monday, the Phillies selected right-hander Spencer Howard out of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.
