Pigs capture first division crown

LV wins 2-1 in walk-off fashion

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs won 2-1 over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park to capture the franchise's first International League North Division title. The victory came in walk-off fashion as J.P. Crawford smacked an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to capture the division crown in dramatic fashion.

The win moves the team's record to 78-53 this season.

The game was scoreless through six innings as Jared Eickhoff, who was making a rehab start, shut down the RailRiders offense. He gave up just four hits in his six innings of work.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre broke the scoreless tie in the top of the seventh inning, but Lehigh Valley had an answer in the home half with a solo home run by Danny Ortiz.

The Pigs clinch a playoff spot and will be a part of postseason play for the third year in a row.

The rivals square off again on Sunday. First pitch is set for 1:35 p.m.
