Saquon Barkley Day in Coplay set for March 24

COPLAY, Pa. - Saquon Barkley is the potential number one overall pick in April's NFL Draft. He's at the Scouting Combine this week in Indianapolis.

Johnny Mangano, our Indy native, will be checking in with us Thursday on that front.

On the homefront, Barkley's hometown has made it official.

Saquon Barkley Day will be held on Saturday, March 24th in Coplay.

Festivities will include a parade, guest speakers and of course, the young man himself, Saquon Barkley, offering some words.

A former standout at both Whitehall and Penn State, Barkley is on the verge of adding yet another feather in what is already a decorated cap.

The Borough of Coplay released the follow press release Wednesday with more details:

"The Borough of Coplay is proud to announce Saquon Barkley Day to be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018. The presenting sponsor of the day is St. Luke’s University Health Network, the official sports medicine provider of the Whitehall-Coplay School District.

The festivities will begin with a parade down Chestnut Street in Coplay. The parade will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the intersection of 9th Street and Chestnut Street and proceed east on Chestnut Street, making a left on Second Street, and culminating at Saylor Park.

Following the parade, there will be a ceremony honoring Saquon for his accomplishments beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the Saylor Park Pavilion. The ceremony will include guest speakers and remarks from Saquon Barkley. Following the ceremony there will be live music by A Few Good Men, food, and beverages.
