The USGA has come to Saucon Valley several times over the years. Their two most recent events were the u.s. Senior Open in 2000, and the U.S. Women's Open in 2009. The next event is coming up in a couple of months. The USGA's Mid-Amateur Tournament will be played in September at Saucon Valley and feature qualifiers who are at least 25 years old and hold a handicap of 3.4 or better. Some of the guys that will qualify for the tournament were on the courses at Saucon Valley today. They played the Old Course, then Weyhill in the Saucon Valley Invitational, an event that is a precursor of sorts for the Mid-Am. For the players who were in the tournament today, it provided a unique opportunity to see and play the course prior to competitive rounds in September.
