Conrad Weiser and Muhlenberg have a chance to meet in the District III-AAA semifinals. But first, the Scouts and Muhls have to get through challenging quarterfinal games.
4th-seeded Conrad Weiser hosts 5-seed Dover on Friday night. Its the Scouts' second consecutive home District game. They rolled over Spring Grove, 24-0, in their opener.
Dover is expected to feature quick scatbacks, an offensive dimension that has given the Scouts some trouble this year. But Weiser has the size advantage, something that they feel can neutralize the speed threat.
Muhlenberg faces a stiffer challenge in its quarterfinal game. The Muhls travel to top-seeded Bishop McDevitt to take on the Crusaders at brand-new Rocco Ortenzio Stadium.
Muhlenberg physically dominated Shippensburg in their opener, 49-19, something the Muhls feel they can do to McDevitt. The Crusaders are a relatively young team. The Muhls are an older, physical team and they feel they can dominate that aspect of the game.
So long as Muhlenberg minimizes the big-play potential of McDevitt, the Muhls feel like they have a chance.
