Semifinals set up Holy War finale for EPC basketball championships

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. - It will be Bethlehem Catholic vs. Allentown Central Catholic for the EPC boy's and girl's basketball championships Friday night at Liberty.

The Holy War rivals were victorious on Wednesday at Easton and Liberty.

In the boy's bracket, top-seed Becahi was able to hold off (5) Allen at Easton, 56-54. Allen's Malik Gordon hit a near half-court shot for the win at the buzzer, but he didn't get it off in time.

(2) ACCHS got it done over (3) East Stroudsburg South, 54-51, behind a team-high 14 points from Jay Vaughan at Memorial Gym.

In the girl's semis, (2) Beca erased a 4-point first quarter deficit to post a big win over (6) Parkland, 49-25, at Easton. Hope Brown paced all scorers with 10 points.

At Liberty, (5) ACCHS will takeover the cinderella banner, ousting (8) Freedom, 49-32, behind a game-high 18 points from Jess Davis.

In the Colonial League semis at Catasauqua, top-seed Southern Lehigh rolled past (4) Bangor, 56-22.

(6) Wilson will keep it going all the way to final, edging (2) Notre Dame, 53-52.

The Colonial League championship games will be played as a double-header at Freedom Friday night beginning at 6:00.
