BIRDSBORO, Pa. -

At Birdsboro, both the Wilson boys and girls lacrosse teams captured BCIAA championships on Thursday night.

The Bulldog boys got up early on Berks Catholic en route to a 16-9 victory and the program's third straight county championship. Wilson (20-0) was led by Matt Close and Steve Connolly, who each tallied 6 points.

The Saints (14-5) were paced by 5 points from McCale Butto and 4 from Tanner Pajakinas.

Wilson has earned the top-seed in the District 3 tournament and will host (16) York Suburban on Tuesday night. (13) Berks Catholic will visit (4) Hempfield that same night.

Earlier in the evening, the Wilson girls (13-7) edged defending champion Exeter, 13-12, the claim the county crown.

Maddie Klee scored 7 goals to lead the Bulldogs, including the game winner with less than 4 minutes left. Carly Pandit added a hat trick for Wilson.

Hailey Leister led the Eagles (19-1) with 4 points. Lexi Gundersen and Abbie Halferty had 3 points each.

Despite the loss, Exeter is the top-seed in the District tournament and will welcome (16) Carlisle on Tuesday night. (14) Wilson will visit (3) Manheim Township on Tuesday evening as well.
