Philosophy of Education
Everything you can learn has value, it is essential that you open your mind to endless possibilities. As a student, you never know where you are headed or what opportunity might arise. I believe strongly in lifelong learning and while the things I teach have value and are my particular focus, all subject material matters.
I spend more time with other people’s children than my own. It means I have an awesome amount of responsibility to further develop our society beyond my own children. I love the role of being a teacher, I love leading students down the path that they can see their own successes and opportunities. One of the most rewarding things is to watch a freshman grow up to be a confident senior or the students that come back to share what is happening now in their life partially because of the things you taught. I think my students know they are valued and that I care about their well-being and success in life. My educational philosophy could also include an insistence on balance in life.
Finally I believe in challenging students, I think one of the best things you can do for students is to help them realize their potential.
