What do you do with my registration information?
It is used only to help us help you when you have difficulty or questions. The information we ask for is kept confidential, and is not distributed beyond our system.

How often is the list updated?
The website is updated at 5 to 15 minute intervals around the clock. It is the same information which is displayed on WFMZ Channel 69.

Can I change the choice of schools that I see?
Yes, you can change the schools you have chosen to view. After logging in, look at the bottom for the section UPDATE YOUR PREFERENCES. After you enter your name and password, you'll be able to change any of your information.

When I registered, I chose SET A COOKIE, but I still have to enter my login name and password.  What's wrong?
You may have your browser set to DISABLE COOKIES. In order for Stormcenter Update to work properly, your browser needs to accept cookies. This will allow much faster access, and eliminate the need for you to remember and enter your login information on wintry mornings.

When I registered, I chose Stormcenter Email Direct, but I still don't get any email when my school closes... why not?
When you register for Stormcenter Email Direct, we send a confirmation message to your email address.  If you signed up to use a wireless device (cell phone, pager, etc) we'll also send a test to that device.  We MUST get your confirmation email back again in order for us to permanently add this service to your account.  This helps to make sure that you spelled your email address properly, and also helps prevent someone else from signing you up for the service (just in case you didn't want it)

It's also possible that you or your Internet provider is using spam filtering.  If your software is set up to block our emails, you obviously won't be receiving them.

Why isn't my school isn't listed in your choices?
Your school must be registered with WFMZ before we can include it in the list. Have your district superintendent or other school administrator contact us for the application materials. 610.797.4530

When I check the box marked SET A COOKIE I get a message that says there's a problem with my cookie. Why?
The cookie on your computer may not match the name you are trying to register. You may wish to register again. In order to register again, you will first need to delete the "cookie" that was placed on your computer. Please follow ONE of the procedures below, depending on whether your are using NETSCAPE or INTERNET EXPLORER .

NETSCAPE -   PROCEDURE TO DELETE THE STORMCENTER UPDATE COOKIE

On a Windows typical installation, you will find this file:

c:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\default\cookies.txt

If you have several users set up on your machine, then in place of "default" you will find each user's name.

If you don't wish to save any cookies, simply delete the file. If you wish to only delete our cookie, you must edit the file and delete the line that looks similar to this:

www.wfmz.com FALSE /cgi-bin FALSE 946684941 SchoolClosings Username%3A%3AeUSER%26Password%3A%3APASSWORD

YOU MUST EXIT YOUR BROWSER AND RESTART IT BEFORE THE CHANGE WILL TAKE PLACE.

When you have finished the above (including restarting your browser) please visit our site again. This time you will be presented with the option to register.

INTERNET EXPLORER -  PROCEDURE TO DELETE THE STORMCENTER UPDATE COOKIE

On a Windows typical installation, you will find one of these directories:

A)  c:\Windows\Profiles\Default\Cookies -   If you have several users set up on your machine, then in place of "default" you will find each users' name.

B) c:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Cookies - If you have several users set up on your machine, then in place of "Default User" you will find each users' name.

Within this directory, you must delete the file that looks similar to this:

yourname@wfmz.com

This file will also indicated that it was MODIFIED on the date that you first registered.

YOU MUST EXIT YOUR BROWSER AND RESTART IT BEFORE THE CHANGE WILL TAKE PLACE.

When you have finished the above (including restarting your browser) please visit our site again. This time you will be presented with the option to register.
