ENG Control |

An engineer adjusts a studio camera's iris level. |
This is the technical heart of 69News. This room
contains control equipment for the studio cameras,
remote skycams,
digital intercom system, station video routing system, video
patching, and much more.
It is also where the ENG (electronic news gathering) feeds are
controlled. When it is necessary to receive a microwave feed from
outside the station, an operator uses remote controls to operate the
several microwave dishes that are located on the tower or at our
remote relay sites. By aiming the dishes at the live trucks (and
having the live truck operators aim the transmit dishes at the
station) a high quality video path can be established.

Live microwave feeds |
The station is connected to the "outside world" via fiber connections as well. The engineering staff coordinates the many feeds that are received or sent out from the station. These feeds may be connected to Philadelphia, CNN in Atlanta, GA, Harrisburg, or many other locations.
