[ BEHIND THE SCENES VIDEO: Anchor Desk ]

Under the desks, the anchors have volume controls for their earpieces (IFB), and buttons to allow them to talk to the director.  There is even a "cough" button in case they need to turn off their mic for a moment.

It has small built in monitors for program video (so the anchors can see what's on the air) and PCs to allow the anchors to access additional news information while on the air. Near the front of the desk (out of view of the cameras) are small lighting fixtures (called "chin fills") to help eliminate shadows

The main anchor desk is positioned in the center of the studio.  The desk has some internal lighting, and a flat plasma screen mounted on the front.

Back of the desk, looking down from the second floor.  Note the "chin fill" lights and monitors mounted in the desk.

The entire desk is built on a castor system, to allow it to rotate. By releasing the locks and giving it a slight push, we can create a great variety of shots.
