The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that construction is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Feb. 15 on the $2.9 million project to replace the Route 611 (Easton Road) and Route 32 (River Road) bridges over Gallows Run in Nockamixon and Durham townships, Bucks County.

During construction, traffic will be controlled with a series of traffic patterns shifts at the intersection of Route 611 (Easton Road) and Route 32 (River Road).  Motorists will face a three-day detour later this year when crews pave the roadway approaches.

Over the next nine months, crews will remove the existing bridges on Route 611 (Easton Road) and Old Easton Road and construct a new Route 611 bridge on the same alignment.  They will also reconstruct and reconfigure the intersection with Route 32 (River Road) so the intersection functions with only one structure; widen and overlay the existing roadway to provide for a southbound, left turn lane; install new guide rail; improve drainage; upgrade signs; and install rumble strips and raised pavement markers.

Blooming Glen Contractors, Inc., of Blooming Glen, Pa. is the general contractor on the $2,959,000 project that is funded with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.  The project is expected to finish in November 2012.
