Bucks Co - Rushland Rd Bridge Project in Wrightstown Twp

A six-month closure of the Rushland Road Bridge over Neshaminy Creek in Wrightstown Township, Bucks County will start Monday, Dec. 17.

Rushland Road will be closed and detoured between Almshouse Road and Swamp Road for the repair of the structurally-deficient bridge over Neshaminy Creek. The bridge, which was initially scheduled to close Dec. 13, is expected to reopen by June 2013.

Crews will work over the next six months to stabilize the existing bridge abutments; repair concrete and seal the deck; reconstruct the roadway approaches; install new guide rail and reinforce the foundations beneath the support abutments.

The improvement project will strengthen and restore the bridge, and remove it from the structurally-deficient category.

During construction, Rushland Road through traffic will be detoured over Swamp Road, Route 263 (York Road) and Almshouse Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.  Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

The five-span, reinforced concrete T-beam bridge was built in 1947. It is 225 feet long and 28 feet wide. The structure carries 2,361 vehicles day.

James J. Anderson Construction Company, Inc. is the general contractor on the $500,000 project that is funded with 100 percent state funds.
