Lehigh/Northampton Co - Bethlehem Street Closures
-PennDOT will be switching the traffic on Commerce Center Boulevard from the north side of the road to the newly constructed south side Friday, December 6. During this time, lanes will be stopped for short periods during the transition. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic; however, delays are expected between 8am and 3pm.
-Beginning Wednesday, December 4, Morton Street will be closed between Hayes St and State St for a sewer line installation associated with the Hayes St Lofts Development. This closure is expected to last until December 10. Also, 14th ave between W North St and W Burton St will be closed Wednesday for a crane operation from 8am – 3pm. Please use caution through the work areas.
-An emergency sewer repair has forced the closure of Bierys Bridge Rd for approximately 2 weeks (Dec 16) until crews can repair the system. Crews are currently onsite and local traffic is able to get through to residences; however, large vehicles, buses, etc. will not have access, except in an emergency situation.
-The work scheduled for the 3rd St / Polk St / Columbia St area has been pushed back and will begin on Friday, November 29, 2013. During this time, A construction fence will be placed on both 3rd St (in the parking lane) and on Columbia St. Reflective cones and traffic control devices will be in place to direct traffic around the work. 2-way traffic will be maintained.
-PennDOT has scheduled the traffic switch on S.R. 412 for Wednesday, November 6, 2013. At that time, 412 will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted to the existing southbound lanes between Shimersville Rd and Daly Ave. This configuration is expected to last until the winter of 2014. In addition, a tree contractor will have equipment on the west side of the intersection of Main St and Market St on Wednesday, November 6, and will have traffic shifted slightly.
-Due to recent inspection results, the High Street Bridge to Hellertown will be closed immediately. Please be aware that due to the prior closing of the Seidersville Road bridge by Northampton County, there will no longer be thru traffic from Ravena Street or High Street. Signs, barricades, etc. have been installed to warn traffic of the closure. The City has been actively pursuing replacement of the High Street Bridge; however, until the replacement, alternate routes shall be taken.
