Monroe Co - Rt 611 Bridge Replacement in Stroudsburg
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced theĀ PA 611/Seventh Street Bridge over Interstate 80 and McMichael Creek in Stroudsburg Borough, Monroe County will be closed and detoured starting June 14. The bridge was previously scheduled to close on May 24.
The closure is for a project to replace the structurally deficient Seventh Street Bridge.
The PA 611/Seventh Street Bridge will be closed and detoured for the duration of the bridge demolition and construction work. Preliminary work began April 18 on the project.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured over several routes, as noted below.
Northbound PA 611/Seventh Street passenger vehicle traffic will be detoured on PA 191/Broad Street, Interstate 80 west, Dreher Avenue and Business Route 209/Main Street. Southbound PA 611/Seventh Street passenger vehicle traffic will be detoured on Business Route 209/Main Street and PA 191/Broad Street.
Northbound PA 611/Seventh Street truck traffic will be detoured on PA 191/Broad Street, Interstate 80 west, Dreher Avenue and Business Route 209/Main Street. Southbound PA 611/Seventh Street truck traffic will be detoured on Business Route 209/Main Street, Dreher Avenue and Interstate 80 east.
Pedestrians will be detoured on Lenox Street, PA 191/Broad Street and Ann Street.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to allow for extra time and use caution while traveling through the work zone.
Additional work includes constructing new bridge approaches, installing ornamental lighting, guiderail and landscaping.
Work on the PA 611/Seventh Street Bridge is expected to be complete in November 2012.
The existing eleven-span concrete T-beam bridge was constructed in 1934, reconstructed in 1959, and is 551 feet long, 46 feet six inches wide with an average daily traffic volume of 8,859 vehicles. The new structure will be a four-span concrete bulb T-beam bridge and will be 551 feet long and 46 feet eight inches wide.
