The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced work will begin Monday (Jan. 2) to replace the PA 946/Mountain View Drive Bridge over the Hokendauqua Creek in Moore Township, Northampton County.

Crews will replace the existing structurally deficient concrete T-beam bridge with a concrete box beam bridge.

Starting Monday, PA 946/Mountain View Drive will be closed and detoured between Hokendauqua and Valley View drives. The posted detour will route traffic on Hokendauqua and Valley View drives. Motorists are advised to allow for extra time when traveling through the area.

The project is expected to be complete in November 2012. All schedules are weather dependent.

Grace Industries, Inc. of Bath, Pa. is the general contractor on the $1,118,500 project.

The PA 946/Mountain View Drive Bridge was constructed in 1932 and is 35 feet long and 26 feet wide. The new Bridge will be 37 feet long and 32 feet wide. PA 946/Mountain View Drive has an average daily traffic of 2,753 vehicles.
