The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced work will begin April 7 to rehabilitate Interstate 78 between exit 35 (PA 143) and the Lehigh County line in Greenwich and Maxatawny townships, Berks County.

The project includes concrete patching, milling and paving, and new pavement markings.

Starting tonight and lasting throughout the project, motorists can expect daily eastbound or westbound lane restrictions on this section of I-78 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution while driving through the work zones, and be alert for construction vehicles making sudden stops and turns.

The project is scheduled to be complete in August. All schedules are subject to change.
