Work is scheduled to begin Oct. 16 to repair the structurally deficient PA 73/PA 662 Bridge over Little Manatawny Creek in Oley Township, Berks County.

The project involves replacing the superstructure (deck and beams) on the single span, concrete box beam bridge.

Beginning Oct. 16, PA 73/PA 662 will be closed and detoured between Friedensburg Road and the western intersection of PA 73 and PA 662 during nighttime hours. The closure will occur Sunday through Thursday nights between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The detour will utilize PA 662, Main Street, Lynx Drive and PA 73. These nighttime closures will be in effect for approximately three weeks.

Then from November through the remainder of construction, traffic on PA 73/PA 662 at the bridge will be maintained in both directions. However, left turns from PA 73 east/PA 662 south onto Friedensburg Road will be restricted (Lynx Drive and Main Street being utilized as the detour for these turns).

This bridge project is scheduled to be complete in September 2014. All schedules are subject to change.
