Work to replace the PA 447 Bridge over Spruce Cabin Run in Barrett Township, Monroe County will begin on Jan 13.

During construction, PA 447 will be closed and detoured between PA 390 and Mill Creek Road. Traffic will be detoured on PA 191 and PA 390. The project is scheduled to be completed in September. All schedules are weather dependent.

Also included in this project was the replacement of the PA 191 Bridge over Brodhead Creek in Stroud Township. During construction, the PA 191 Bridge was closed and detoured between PA 447 and Stokes Avenue from April to December 2013. The posted detour routed traffic on PA 447 and PA 390.

Motorists are advised to allow for extra time and use caution when traveling through the area.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Pa. is the general contractor on the $3,067,487 project to replace both bridges.

The old PA 191 Bridge was a two span concrete box beam bridge that was constructed in 1957.  It was 127 feet long, 34 feet wide and was posted with a 19 ton weight restriction. The new PA 191 Bridge is 130 feet long, 32 feet wide, two span concrete box beam bridge and has no weight restriction. This section of PA 191 has an average daily traffic volume of 5,633 vehicles.

The PA 447 Bridge is a single span concrete box beam bridge that was constructed in 1957. It is 67 feet long and 34 feet wide. The new PA 447 Bridge will be a 68 feet long, 32 feet wide, single span concrete box beam bridge. This section of PA 447 has an average daily traffic volume of 2,198 vehicles.
