The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) serves WFMZ-TV with nearly 30 real-time traffic cameras within the Lehigh Valley and surrounding area. These cameras are controlled at the PennDOT 5-0 District Office Traffic Operations Center located on Hamilton Street in Allentown. Each camera has an almost 360° view of surrounding areas. While these cameras are mainly used to monitor traffic volumes and incidences, they are also used to dispatch police and road side assistance to stranded motorists.
