Rob & Wendy Taste Milk Tart Made Live On 69 News
It was up to 69 News viewers to decide what tasty treat they wanted to see made live during Ed Hanna's weather forecasts at the Kutztown Folk Festival. The choices were apple dumpling, funnel cake, and milk tart. And, with more than 39% of the vote, milk tart was the winner.

You can click on the links above to watch each segment. The first segment shows volunteers with Zion's Church at Windsor Castle preparing the milk tart and putting it into the oven during the 5:00 segment. The second clip, from the 5:30 forecast, shows them taking it out of the oven. Ed then takes a bite. The third clip shows Rob and Wendy on the set taking a bite of the pie.

Milk Tart (Schlop Kucha)

Begin with an 9 inch pie shell and put in:

5 Tbsp. granulated sugar
5 Tbsp. brown sugar
5 Tbsp. flour

Mix well and add 3 tablespoons molasses. Put ingredients on bottom of pie shell. Fill pie shell with 1 2/3 cups of milk. Add 4 teaspoons of butter in small pieces. Bake for 1 hour at 375 degrees or until it begins to darken. (Note: You may want to put a layer or two of aluminum foil under this as it may boil over).
