Tornado Touches Down In Poconos; Damage Severe
The National Weather Service said it was an EF2 tornado that touched down in the Poconos Wednesday. Forecasters say no official spotters saw the tornado, but the N.W.S. had issued a tornado warning for Monroe County between approximately 2:00 and 2:45 Wednesday afternoon.

During that time, quite a bit of damage was done, especially in parts of Stroud Township. Cherry Valley Road is still closed in sections of Stroud and Hamilton townships. All of Kemmertown Road remains closed. Route 191 has been reopened. Officials say Stroudsmoor Road is closed to all but local traffic. They say there's still a lot of clean-up going on that area and they need to keep traffic as light as possible. Monroe County's Emergency Management Director says yesterday's storm resulted in three injuries, but that they are not life-threatening.

Robert Wills and Kelly Sweigart of Emmaus, Lehigh County e-mailed us the picture below. They say they took it at Cherry Valley Church in Cherry Valley, Monroe County. They say they watched the storm brew into what they believe to be a tornado and touch down right in front of them. They saw trees, roofs, and debris tossed into the air. Seconds later, they say it turned and came back towards them, crossed the road, and took out some more trees out while crossing into a wooded area.
