Bitterly cold conditions, followed by snow this weekend

Bitterly cold conditions and increasing clouds will be featured overnight with low temperatures tumbling into the single digits once again.

Look for the temperatures to recover a bit on Saturday with highs returning to the lower and middle 30s.

We also expect to see periods of clouds and sunshine on Saturday before our next storm system pushes in for Sunday and Monday.

Intermittent snow and/or ice will start to arrive Sunday afternoon with a small accumulation possible, but the storm will quickly ramp up in intensity by Sunday night.

We expect snow to be heavy at times on Monday before the storm system finally pulls away from the area Monday night.

Some sleet and freezing rain could mix in across parts of the area, but this should mainly be a snow event for most locations.

A general six to 12 inches of snow is the most likely scenario at this time, but it will depend on the track of the storm.

Stay tuned to 69 News and the AccuWeather Channel for updates on the upcoming storm.
