Local Forecast Discussion

Overnight: Partly cloudy and warm. Low: 66

Sunday: Very warm and humid with some sun, then increasing clouds (PM showers or t-storms). High: 88

Sunday Night: Rain from Tropical Storm Bonnie; watch for flooding (potential for drenching downpours). Low: 66

It's been a hot start to the weekend as many places saw highs in the 90s on Saturday! Allentown has now had three consecutive days with 90 degree highs, making this three-day stretch an official heat wave. There were some showers and thunderstorms in spots Saturday afternoon and evening, but skies will remain partly cloudy overnight with warm lows in the mid 60s.

Sunday starts off with some sunshine before the cloud cover increases during the afternoon. As a result, temperatures will only make it into the mid and upper 80s, which is still well above average. Once again a shower or t-storm will be possible in the afternoon and evening. We're watching for tropical moisture to stream in from the south causing rain to be steadier and heavier Sunday night into Monday morning. This tropical moisture is associated with now Tropical Storm Bonnie near the southeastern coast.

Memorial Day Monday will have some rain in the morning. The rain can be heavy at times causing some localized flooding, but it should taper off during the afternoon.  However, with daytime heating, the late afternoon and evening could feature a pop-up shower or thunderstorm until a front swings through and clears us out. Expect more clouds on Monday with cooler temperatures as highs reach the upper 70s. It should still be humid despite not being as warm, and if the rain moves out sooner to allow more sunshine, temperatures may be able to get back into the 80s.
