Mother's Day forecast; warm and sunny

Today: Becoming breezy and warm with clouds and some sun; a couple of showers and t-storms around, primarily later in the day. High: 78

Tonight: A lingering shower or thunderstorm this evening, then turning partly cloudy. Low: 54

Sunday (Mother's Day): Pleasantly warm with sunshine and patchy clouds. High: 78 Low: 54

As a cold front approaches the region from the west throughout the day Saturday look for the skies to cloud up, warmer air to move in, humidity levels to increase a bit and showers and thunderstorms to be passing through from time to time. Most of the shower and thunderstorm activity will hold off until the afternoon and then lingering into the overnight before coming to an end. While thunderstorms are a possibility they are not expected to become severe. Highs Saturday afternoon will push into the upper 70s and low 80s, so the warmer air that's been hanging off to our southwest will finally make its way into the area Saturday. Mother's Day on Sunday will be equally as warm without the threat for showers or thunderstorms and with sunnier skies. With that said, Sunday will be the better day weather-wise this weekend. Monday will be a little cloudier with more humidity and highs in the summer-like mid 80s. Showers and thunderstorms on Monday are a close call as they will be just to our north and west. For now we'll keep Monday dry, but we'll continue to keep an eye on the situation. Either way I wouldn't expect it to be a big deal on Monday as the vast majority of the showers and thunderstorms to hold off until Tuesday.
