Local Forecast Discussion

Tonight: Blustery and much colder with clearing; will "feel like" it's 0 to -15 overnight. Low: 5

Saturday: Brisk and much colder with plenty of sunshine. High: 23 Low: 14

***Wind Chill Advisory in effect, mainly northern areas, from midnight to Saturday morning***

***Wind Advisory in effect for the area into Saturday morning***

The clouds will also begin to clear overnight as high pressure briefly moves in for Saturday. Clearer skies tonight means temperatures will plummet into the single digits and with the winds still whipping at a fairly good clip we're going to watch feel like temps drop to 10 to 20 below zero! Despite a tremendous amount of sunshine on Saturday highs will only make it into the low 20s, but the wind will again make it feel like the teens and single digits most of the day. Sunday will be less windy and milder with high temperatures rebounding into the low and mid 30s. With our next storm system approaching from the southwest the clouds will be increasing during the day Sunday. Later Sunday afternoon/early evening snow will begin to overspread the area and continue into Monday. At this point most of the models are indicating that this could be fairly significant snowfall event for our area. We will be providing a specific snowfall map (covering all of our viewing area) early Saturday afternoon. In the meantime, our thoughts on probability of snow totals (at this time):

CHANCES FOR SNOW TOTALS (Sunday evening/Monday)
<4" - 25%
4-8" - 35%
8-12" - 35%
>12" - 5%

The biggest concern in the short term is the wind chill values making it feel like 10-20 degrees below zero overnight into Saturday. We'll continue to keep our eyes on the storm and keep you posted on what we expect over the next couple days. Enjoy your Super Bowl weekend!
