Local Forecast Discussion

Tonight: Clear to partly cloudy, warm and sticky. Low: 66

Thursday: Hot and humid with sunshine and some clouds. PM t-storm in Poconos, then Lehigh Valley at night. High: 92

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, warm and humid.  An evening shower or t-storm in spots.  Low: 66

Allentown saw temperatures soar into the 90's for the third day in a row today and it looks like the heat wave will continue into Thursday. However, before that happens, expect warm and sticky conditions under partly cloudy skies. Overnight lows will fall into the mid 60's.

The next chance for showers and t-storms will come Thursday afternoon and night, but Friday presents an even better opportunity for us. The showers and thunderstorms will move in from the north and northwest late Thursday (so the Poconos will see the activity first) and then slowly slide off to the south and southeast Thursday night through Friday afternoon. The activity during this period will be scattered, so this will not be a washout, but having an umbrella handy is probably a good idea. By Friday evening, the rain will have tapered off with nothing more than a few hundredths of an inch to a quarter of an inch of rainfall across the region.

Otherwise, look for a little more cloud cover later in the day on Thursday as highs top out in the 90's yet again. Friday won't be as warm as highs only reach the low 80's, but it will be just as humid, with more clouds than sunshine overhead.

Expect warmer conditions again for Labor Day Weekend, with skies staying mostly to partly sunny and temperatures in the mid to upper 80's for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
