Mild air soared into our area today as thermometers reached the 50's and 60s! Clouds will begin to thicken up overnight. A storm system advance towards the area Wednesday. Its track will take the center of the storm from Pittsburgh and across our area later Wednesday evening. As the atmosphere moistens up, a little rain in spots is possible. Wednesday will be mild with periods of rain and a thunderstorm. The rain can come down heavy at times. As much colder air drives into the region Wednesday night, it will turn very windy as colder air rushes into the area (and the storm rapidly intensifies). The rain will likely change briefly to snow or flurries as sharply colder air arrives. At this point, a coating - 1 inch is possible for most of the area, but the Poconos could end up with a couple of inches of snow by Thursday morning. As the much colder air arrives, a flash freeze will take place Wednesday night and Thursday morning and slippery conditions are expected on any untreated surfaces including roadways. High temperatures on Thursday will only reach the middle 20s with windy conditions. Wind chills will be in the single digits to around 10 degrees all day Thursday. Temperatures do rebound for the weekend.
